Charlbi Dean Kriek was a South African actress and model. She was born on 5 February 1990 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Charlbi Dean starts modeling at the age of 6, appearing in commercials and catalogues. She making frequent appearances on fashion runways and magazine covers in the decades that followed.
In 2010, Charlbi Dean made her acting debut in the film adaptation of Spud as Amanda, a role she would reprise in the sequel Spud 2: The Madness Continues.
At the age of 12, Charlbi Dean signed with Alfa Model Management and homeschooled from the age of 14.
Charlbi Dean was best known for her roles in the Spud films (2010–2013) and other popular roles in 2018 and 2022.
Charlbi Dean moved between Cape Town, where she attended Waterfront Theatre School and the likes of Tokyo, New York and London for her career.
In 2017, Charlbi Dean went on to star in the films “Don’t Sleep” and “An Interview with God” in 2018.
Charlbi Dean had a recurring role as the assassin Syonide on the DC Comics television series “Black Lightning,” which aired on the CW from 2018 to 2021.
In February 2020, Charlbi Dean had joined the cast of Ruben Östlund's satirical film “Triangle of Sadness”, which premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and won the Palme d'Or.
On 29 August 2022, Charlbi Dean has died in New York, US. As per various sources learnt that she died at a hospital in New York with a sudden, unexpected illness.
